Bite-Size Chinese Medicine

Quick notes mostly about fitting old-world wisdom into a modern American life.

Backsliding

The danger of backsliding is high when we’re feeling good.

When we’ve finished a great meditation, completed a project, come up with a much-needed solution, received a clear bill of health, dieted or exercised for a solid few days, or found great social connection.

We think, “I deserve a tasty reward.” Or, “I can look at social media while I’m feeling happy.” Or, “I can binge-watch because I’ve been so productive.” Or, "I can get let my mind run amok while creative juices are flowing."

It could be a trap - these funnels usually lead back to bad.

It's probably a trick - the Monkey Mind (known affiliate of the Dopamine Dragon) is super crafty.

This is the time to remember which behaviors got us to feeling good. And perhaps soldier forward while spirits are high?
