Bite-Size Chinese Medicine

Quick notes mostly about fitting old-world wisdom into a modern American life.

Clear water

Whenever I am struggling working on a creative project or looking for a solution to a problem, if I'm lucky, the words of the late Tibetan lama Sogyal Rinpoche (1947-2019) come to mind, and I go quiet for a while:

[When] the mind is quietly settled, [it's] just like a glass of muddy water. If you don't stir it, the dirt will slowly settle. In the same manner, if you let the mind be in the spacious openness, slowly the confusion of the turbulence of thoughts and emotions settles.

And then...

Through clear water, sunlight (Intuition? Inspiration? Collective consciousness? The divine?) is able to shine completely.
