Bite-Size Chinese Medicine

Quick notes mostly about fitting old-world wisdom into a modern American life.

Exits

The body has numerous pathways to get rid of unwelcome Qi (waste, toxins, pathogens, stuck and aberrant emotions):

Sweating, urination, bowel movement, flatulence, vomiting, bleeding, exhalation, sneezing, coughing, running nose, tears.

Therapeutically, when there’s something that needs to be cleared, we try to use the avenue that makes the most location sense. When a pathogen invades the intestines, it makes more sense to purge it through the bowels than to try to clear it out the mouth or through the pores on the skin.

The important thing to remember is that these clearing pathways are a feature, not a bug.

Unless they go on and on without stop.
