Bite-Size Chinese Medicine

Quick notes mostly about fitting old-world wisdom into a modern American life.

The Netflix Effect

For the most part, we choose what to pay attention to.

This has always been true. But now more than ever, there is such abundance and variety of stimuli right at our fingertips:

Feeds, shows, newsletters, movies, advertisements, clickbait, searches, songs, podcasts, books, audiobooks, videos, emails, calls, texts, games, apps... Each one a trove.

Oh, and there's the old standards: family, friends, neighbors, strangers, food, water, breath, nature.

And of course there's the voice in the head.

Each choice elicits a unique emotional response and delivers its own blend of healthful and deleterious effects.

What am I choosing to put on my "screen" today?
